Class Information
How Distance Learning Works
Distance Learning classes are desirable because they allow people to save time (no spending a night away from home and possibly attending to work needs during class breaks); also they save money (airline, hotel, child care, transportation etc.) and help the environment.
The Distance Learning students attend the class from home or work. Distance Learning students will see class material through the Web, and the lecture will be heard via a toll free number allowing for audio conferencing. An e-mail is sent to Distance Learning students the day before the class, detailing call-in information and Web learning instructions. Please note that this e-mail is addressed to all Distance Learning students per class, so if you want your e-mail address to remain confidential please notify RMP upon registration.
Two Options Available for Classes
The first option is a 1 day, 8 hour In-Person California or National Exam Review Class.
The second class option is a 2 day, 4 hours per day Distance Learning California or National Exam Review Class. This class is a new addition to RMP and is in response to student feedback! Breaking the class into 2 days and 4 hour blocks serves four purposes:
- Allows students to still work a half day, thereby not losing a full day's work
- Allows students to preserve time for family/friends and other occasions on the weekend
- Allows students time to absorb the material in smaller increments, thereby avoiding information "overload".
- Allows students in different time zones to be less burdened with time changes as all class times are offered in Pacific Standard Time (PST).
Scheduled Class Dates
Please see our calendar of class dates located on the right side of each website page.
Changing Class Dates
1 day, 8 hour In-Person California or National Exam Review class dates may be changed if the student and RMP agree upon a new class date.
2 day, 4 hours per day Distance Learning California or National Exam Review class dates may be changed if the student and RMP agree upon a new class date for one or both of the class sessions. It is the responsibility of the students to ensure they attend both sessions to complete the entire RMP class, thereby making sure the information necessary to help you pass the exam is covered.
It may be necessary to change class dates so please check the calendar section of our web site to confirm the class schedule.
Class Times
The 1 day class starts at 9 am PST and ends by 5 pm PST. Ten minute breaks are offered every hour and a half the first half of the day and five minute breaks every hour the last half of the day. The lunch break is from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm (PST).
The 2 day four hour class is held from 9 am PST to 1 pm PST. Breaks will be offered every fifty minutes or so. The break times will be ten minutes long to allow people to check on messages, get snacks, etc.
Class Location
The In-Person students will meet the RMP instructor at the Hampton Inn and Suites (562-594-3939) located at 2401 Seal Beach Blvd, Seal Beach, California 90740. Please ask for our Room Block Rates. This hotel is not full service but offers complimentary continental breakfast, has a business center, free Internet service, is located within walking distance of restaurants, and within minutes driving distance of movie theaters and shopping centers.
Students do not need to bring anything with them to class except the class material(s). The class materials are downloaded to either a PC computer (MAC computers are not compatible with our academic software) or a lap top. Students can print and bring the material to class or bring their laptop. No Class or Study Aids are shipped so select the "No Shipping (download only)" option when completing the registration process through the shopping cart. Study Aids are not included in the class tuition. Please refer to the shopping cart for a comprehensive price list.
Please note that the In-Person portion of the class may be converted to a Distance Learning class if RMP determines it necessary. Students will be notified as soon as possible if this happens. If this does become necessary RMP will absorb the difference in class price.
In-Person Class Attire
In-Person classes are informal in nature (questions when desired, adjust thermostat on group consensus etc). Therefore, please wear comfortable clothes (not a business suit). Many people come in jeans and tennis shoes, and that is fine with us!
Directions to In-Person Class
The following are three recommended airports to fly into:
- Los Angeles Airport (LAX)
- The John Wayne/Santa Ana Airport (SNA)
- The Long Beach Airport (LGB)
If you fly into LAX it is recommended that you allow 40 minutes drive time from the airport (with minimal traffic). If you fly into the SNA it is recommended that you allow 30 minutes drive time from the airport (with minimal traffic). The Long Beach Airport is located approximately 15 minutes away but has a limited flight schedule. Students should plan on taking a 6:30 pm or later return flight to allow enough time to complete the class. Ground Transportation includes Super Shuttle, Cab or Rental Car.
Refresher Class
This class is taken after the initial class is taken. Re-taking the class allows students to clear up questions they may have thought of since the first class, be exposed to new questions since different students attend each class, allows reinforcement of material, gives an opportunity to network with additional people in the industry, and is a concentrated day of study. There are many benefits to taking a refresher class; we want students to take advantage of it, so we offer this class at a 50% reduction in price. Students will be given access to updated class material(s) upon registration.
Confirmation E-Mail
Upon registration you will receive an e-mail confirming your RMP order. Please keep this e-mail as confirmation of your enrollment. RMP provides no other verification.
It is important to note that registration and payment for the In-Person and Distance Learning classes must be completed early enough to allow enough time for students to receive class materials prior to class. Please see Processing Time of Class Materials below for details.
Payment
All registration forms are completed, processed and paid for through our shopping cart (located on the shopping cart page via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). We do not accept alternative forms of payment.
For your information, many companies support the cost of tuition and/or traveling expense.
Processing Time for Class Materials
Once the registration form has been completed and processed, Class Materials will be accessible via an e-mail sent to the student detailing download instrucitons. These material(s) are not shipped to you. One activation code is given per exam review class so you can only activate this material on one computer. Materials are printable once but are accessible for review in the computer for an unlimited number of times for one year. Please make sure you are using an updated free version of Adobe Reader so that the material(s) can be properly seen. Processing time for Class Materials is up to three business days. Studying class materials prior to class offers the following benefits: 1. the student has the material early on, so ample study prior to the class will maximize what the student gets from the class and 2. the need for portable Study Aids for free time (at the car wash or on airplane rides, etc.) is met. Please pick the "No Shipping" (download only) option when finishing the registration process. Class material(s) and the Title 22 Regulations are printable. Please note that the Study Aids are not included in the class tuition. Refer to the shopping cart for a comprehensive price list for all Study Aids. Study Aids are not printable as they are built into the academic software.
Receiving Study Aids
Please note that the Study Aids are not included in the class tuition. Refer to the shopping cart for a comprehensive price list for all Study Aids. Once the registration form has been completed and processed Study Aids will be accessible via an e-mail sent to the student detailing download instructions. These material(s) are not shipped to you so please select the "No Shipping" (download only) option when completing the registration process located through the shopping cart. Processing time for Study Aids is up to three business days. Study Aids are not printable because they are built into academic software. However, these material(s) are accessible for an unlimited number of times for one year on the computer first used to access the software. Studying Study Aids prior to class allows the student to maximize course material on class day. Please note that only class material(s) and the Title 22 Regulations can be printed.
Cancellation of Classes, Study Aids or Refund of Shipping Fee
No refunds are given when a student is not able to attend a class and has made no alternative arrangements with RMP.
If the student wishes to cancel a class prior to the class date without arranging for an alternative date, cancel a Study Aid order or get a refund for shipping fees the following cancellation fees will apply:
- 10% of the registration fee if cancellation occurs more than two weeks prior to the class date
- 20% of the registration fee if cancellation occurs within two weeks of the class date
- 50% of the registration fee if cancellation occurs within one week of the class date
- Study Aids will not be refunded under any circumstances if the activation code has been activated. If the activation code has not been activated there will be a 25% cancellation fee of the entire order.
- If a shipping fee was selected for download items a refund will be issued along with a 25% cancellation fee as a "No Shipping" fee is offered.
Processing time for the refund will be by credit to the credit card used to register for the class and may take up to two weeks to process.
Discounts
Individual Referral Discount
By referring one student who registers for the California or National Exam Review Class, the referring student will receive a 5% credit back to the purchasing card once both students have been processed and paid for the class registration. This discount applies to the referring student's entire registration form; therefore the referring student will receive the 5% discount on any Study Aids ordered at the same time.
By referring two or more students the referring student will receive a 7% credit back to the purchasing card once all students have processed and paid for registration of the classes. This discount applies to the referring student's entire registration form; therefore the referring student will receive the 7% discount on any Study Aids ordered at the same time!
RMP must be informed of the referral of the student(s) at the time of registration by the referring individual (e.g. type name(s) of referred student(s) in the comment section of the registration form). Discovery of a co-worker in the same class or upcoming class does not merit the discount.
Please note that the discount can only be credited to the purchasing credit card – no exceptions can be made. If the purchasing credit card is no longer available then the credit cannot be processed.
Processing time for the discount may take up to two weeks.

What if I am Licensed in Another State and Want to Practice in California?
Although you will get reciprocity for the National Exam in California you will still have to take the California Exam. Students licensed in other states have a harder time with this exam because of conflicting regulations. The California Exam Review Class will help separate regulations and point out differences between California's SNF, ICF and OBRA sections; doing this enables the student to focus only on California's Exam material.
